3 garlic cloves, minced
3 Tbsp olive oil
1 can (28 oz) tomato puree
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp Italian seasoning*
1 tsp dried basil*
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
* Instead of the Italian seasoning and dried basil, I used a grinder of pizza seasoning which I used again to season the crust.
- In a large saucepan, saute garlic in oil until tender.
- Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until sauce reaches desired thickness.
- Sauce may be refrigerated for up to 1 week.
- Use approximately 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup per pizza.
